Tropical Storm Isaias (2026)

Storm Active: October 6-

On October 5, an area of low pressure formed over the southwestern Gulf of Mexico. A broad area of rotation quickly became evident on satellite imagery, and favorable atmospheric conditions allowed it to consolidate into Tropical Depression Nine the very next day. The storm moved very slowly eastward at first in the sluggish steering currents of a trough to its north. Meanwhile, the circulation tightened up rapidly and the system began rapid intensification early on October 7, earning the name Isaias.

As of 8:00pm EDT on October 7, 2026, Tropical Storm Isaias had maximum sustained winds of 65 mph, a minimum central pressure of 994 mb, and was moving east-northeast at 8 mph. For more up-to-date information as well as the latest watches and warnings, please consult the National Hurricane Center.
